Evans the kidnapper 

Alleged kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, on Friday narrated how he was allegedly tortured by members of I-G’s Intelligence Response Team and the then Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
Evans said at the continuation of a trial-within-trial at an Ikeja High Court where he is facing trial alongside six others on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that before Evans’ testimony, a five-minute, 33-second video recording was played in the courtroom.
The video recording showed Insp. Idowu Haruna, a member of the IG’s Intelligence Response Team, sitting beside Evans cautioning him and taking his statement.
Mr Olanrewaju Ajanaku, Evans’ lawyer, however, disputed the validity of the recording by claiming it was heavily edited.
Evans, while being led in evidence by Ajanaku, described himself as a businessman dealing in haulage and ornaments, resident at No. 3, Fred Soyebode St., Magodo, Lagos.
In a graphic detail, Evans described how he was tortured by police officers after his arrest.

Truck crushes mother, children to death in Anambra

A woman and her two children were on Friday crushed to death by an articulated truck along Otolo/Okigwe road in Nnewi, Anambra State. The deceased was said to be on a motorcycle with her four kids when they were knocked down by driver of the vehicle, with REG number AWK- 575- ZW. A witness, who identified himself as Theo, said the truck driver was on top speed when he suddenly lost control and rammed into the motorcycle. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying the woman and two of her kids lost their lives in the accident. He said the other two children were rescued and were responding to treatment, while the driver was still at large. Ohanaeze directs Igbos to vote for Atiku, Obi in 2019 presidential election

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has directed Igbos to cast their votes for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, in the February 16 presidential election. The endorsement of the former vice president was announced by the President General of the Igbo socio-political group,  John Nwodo , in a statement released on Thursday, January 24, 2019 after a meeting of the Ime Obi, the group's highest decision-making council.
